Hidden beneath the restless surface of the sea, beauty is not born in silence, it is forged through pressure, movement, and time.
At the heart of Birth Of Pearl, a luminous cluster of iridescent mother-of-pearl paint emerges from swirling currents of colour and energy. The surrounding forms represent the turbulence of the ocean, where opposing forces collide, embrace, and ultimately give rise to something rare and enduring.
Rather than illustrating a pearl, this painting explores the moment of creation itself—the mysterious transformation that occurs when nature turns adversity into beauty. The flowing textures and organic structures reflect the unseen chemistry of life, reminding us that every precious beginning is shaped by forces far greater than ourselves.
Like much of my work, this painting was created by guiding natural forces rather than simply applying paint. Air, gravity, chemistry, and motion became collaborators, allowing the image to evolve organically until the pearl revealed itself from within the chaos.
